Guidelines for Work and Education Release Participants

Print Work and Special Release Agreement

There are rules for the participants to follow on work, treatment, and education release just as there are rules to follow in society and on parole. If they cannot follow rules, with the privilege of being granted work or education release, then it is quite possible they will not be able to function successfully in society. The violation of these rules can cause loss of parole and certainly loss of work, treatment, or education release privileges.

A work schedule will be set up with the employer by the Correction Center. The participant will be released only according to this schedule. If the work schedule is changed, the employer must contact the Correctional Center before doing so in order that all proper authorities involved can be notified or the participant will not be released to go to work.

  1. They are not allowed to leave the place of employment, treatment, or school for any reason, including lunch, except when accompanied by their supervisor or as part of their job assignment. They are not to be assigned to any job alone. There must always be someone of a supervisory position with the work/education release participant.
  2. They are not allowed visits from their spouse, relatives, or friends while at work or school, as visits are to take place at the Southwest Multi-County Correctional Center / Dickinson Adult Detention Center.
  3. They are not allowed to make or accept personal phone calls from work or school, except to the Correction Center.
  4. They are not allowed to have any alcohol or go into a place that sells alcohol.
  5. They are not allowed to purchase any type of motor vehicle or to have their own vehicle in their possession. They are not allowed to drive any licensed motor vehicle on any public highways, roads, or streets.
  6. They will submit to alcohol, drug, or any other testing programs including a polygraph examination to determine if any of the rules have been violated.
  7. Personal clothing will be allowed as long as it is appropriate for their job.
  8. Correctional staff must have on-site communication with the work supervisor or be notified of all site changes and locations in order to determine the location of the inmate at any given time. Work supervisors without on-site phones must contact the Correctional staff prior to each job site change
  9. Must send a signed copy of their work schedule back with the participant, or call the center to inform staff of any schedule changes.

Any violation of work or education release rules or institutional rules may terminate a participant on work or education release without prior notice.
