In
accordance with the philosophy of Dakota
Horizons Youth
Center and the
recognition to maintain and strengthen family, DHYC shall provide residents
with the opportunity to visit with immediate family, maintain the morale of the
resident, and to develop closer relationships between the resident and family
members. The administration shall retain the right to suspend or permanently
cancel visitation privileges for a particular visitor after serious and/or
repeated rule violations have occurred.
There
is a two week waiting period for residents to receive visitation privileges
other than clergy or attorneys. It is the resident’s responsibility to
notify family that they are at Dakota
Horizons Youth
Center. It is also the
juveniles’ responsibility to notify their family when they leave this
facility. Due to juvenile confidentiality laws, facility staff are not allowed
to disclose release dates or locations to those who may inquire.
